In statistics we study populations by gathering random samples and then using the samples to make inferences about populations. What a population is depends on what you are studying. For example if you want to determine the average income of the citizens of Georgia your population is the citizens of Georgia. If you want to know how many nuts squirrels in Douglas are stealing from trees your population is the squirrels in Douglas. If you want to know how many defective items come off an assembly line then your population is all items produced on the assembly line.
In this course you will learn how to analyze sample data and make predictions about populations.
