AB 1 HW 2: 1 complete annotated bibliography entry (citation, summary, analysis)
AB 2 HW 1: 1 complete annotated bibliography entry (citation, summary, analysis) for a Cracked.com listicle
AB 2 HW 2: 1 complete annotated bibliography entry (citation, summary, analysis) for a non-Cracked listicle (like Buzzfeed or Huff Post) AND 2 paragraphs listing and analyzing the differences between the Cracked article and the non-Cracked article.
AB 3 HW 1: Logical fallacies: find 3 logical fallacies in any one or more articles, blogs, or op-ed pieces; quote and name the logical fallacies. (due: week of 10/05/15)
AB 3 HW 2: Urban legends: find three urban legends online, write an MLA citation for each urban legend story, and briefly describe it. (due: week of 10/05/15)

AB 4 HW 1: Gendered Advertisements: find 3 magazine/internet ads aimed specifically at one gender; identify what about the ad indicates the product is just for men or just for women; explain your choice; 2-3 sentences per selections (due week of 10/19/15)
AB 4 HW 2: Controversial Ads: find 1 controversial ad or commercial; explain what is/was controversial about it and how the company responded to the controversy (due week of 10/26/15).
AB 4 HW 3: Historical ads: find 1 historical print ad; discuss the elements in the ad that you find most interesting; one paragraph (due week of 11/02/15)
AB 4 HW 4: Music and advertising: find 1 TV commercial which features music rather prominently; discuss in 1 paragraph the use and/or appropriateness of the music (due week of 11/09/15)
Annotated Bibliography Instructions
AB 1: any 5 articles from reliable sources
AB 2: 5 listicles from any source
AB 3: Urban legends/Propaganda -- choose 2 urban legends and 3 propaganda pieces; for the urban legends, in your analysis section explain why you think that particular legend has persisted; in other words what is it about the legend that keeps it from dying out; for the propaganda, in your analysis section for each selection explain the technique the article/story/propaganda uses to mislead its audience; use these terms-- Propaganda Techniques (due: week of 10/26/15)
AB 4: Advertisements: choose 5 print ads or commercials; cite your sources; include a picture or a link to each ad; answer 3 of the "Analyzing an Advertisement" (see below) questions for each ad. (due: week of 11/12/15)
Essays
Essay 1: any topic based on your AB research; you choose the format (listicle, blog, editorial, etc) and mode (persuasive, descriptive, compare contrast, etc.)
Essay 2: any topic based on your AB research; listicle format; your choice of mode (due: week of 10/05/15)
Essay 3: Urban Legends/Propaganda analysis: write on a specific urban legend/propaganda or on a type of urban legend/propaganda (due: week of 11/02/15)
Essay 4: Advertisements: your choice of topic, mode, and format; must be about advertising or advertisements (due: week of 11/24/15)

Respond to one of the Reddit/writingprompts

Create a vlog (you could combine this with one of the previous topics or do something completely random)
